Since the 1990s, OPT’s Bus Division volunteers have been restoring transit and coach buses so that we can continue to be an operating transit museum. The majority of our collection comes from Tucson or Southern Arizona at large, in various conditions ranging from recently retired to rusted frames.
Our needs vary depending on the task or project. We are always looking for new volunteers with experience in mechanics, electrical wiring, machining, fabricating, painting, and detailing, but we will train anyone with enthusiasm and an interest in historic preservation. Projects are determined based on availability of funds and volunteers.
Projects include:
Warren-Bisbee Bus Line #8 (completed 2007)
Tucson Rapid Transit #50 (ongoing)
Warren-Bisbee Bus Line #1 (ongoing)
Greyhound Senicruiser #5425 (ongoing)
Old Pueblo Transit #5060 (ongoing)
